You’ll learn about the First British Empire, when the tiny island nation of England dominated almost the entire North American continent. And Tim will show you how the American Revolution precipitated the “swing to the east,” when Britain took over India, Australia, and much of southeast Asia and Africa. Finally, you’ll find out how and why the Empire declined in the 20th century. But it’s not all dates and places: You’ll also learn about why the Empire was built in the first place; how it both hurt and benefitted the territories it claimed; the effects it had on native populations; and how those effects can still be felt today.
