And the gold medal goes to…Tim and Moby!
We’ve freshly updated our Olympics movie for 2012, which comes complete with a POPquiz, FYI, and Activities, and we’ve made it free for July and August.
In the movie, Tim and Moby introduce you to the history and traditions of the Olympic Games and talk about the start of the modern games. You’ll learn how and where the Olympics began, including what the first event was, and what the winner took home (hint: it wasn’t a gold medal)!
You’ll discover why the games were abolished for a time, when and why they were revived, and when women were first allowed to participate.
See how the Olympics promote peace and harmony among nations, and learn just what those rings on the flag symbolise.
You’ll also learn about origin of the Olympic torch and its world journey to a new host-city every four years.
Now, where is it headed for this year again? It must have slipped our minds

Any chance you could make it free on the iPad app too? My son is only 4 so a little young to justify the cost of a full subscription (unless you have a discount for home educators or in exchange for a review) but he loves learning from the free movies and we’re covering the Olympics at our local Home Ed group next week.
Thanks

Hi Kat, if the movie’s free on the site it should be free on the app but we’ve just found there’s a little glitch that needs ironing out. I’ll post here when it’s sorted. You’ll definitely have free access to the Olympic movie and quiz on the iPad app shortly!
We can definitely sort a discount for you of some sort if you’re keen to write a review! Email info@brainpop.co.uk and let’s talk! Stick “POPtalk discussion” in the subject line and we can get the ball rolling on that one

Hi Kat, I should have had a clearer idea about this before getting back to you yesterday but we’ve just discovered that the only free movies on the app are the daily featured movie and the permanently free movies. More than a glitch! Really sorry to have got your hopes up on that one! Still, we can talk discounts, etc. if you get in touch.
As your son’s only 4 you might be interested in our BrainPOP Jr. app. Here’s the link to learn more: http://www.brainpop.com/educators/community/blog/2012/07/brainpop-jr-on-the-go/
